New Business Development Associate

Position Overview

The New Business Development Associate supports National Cortina’s continued growth by identifying, developing, and securing new business opportunities, specifically within the bakery and ingredients sector. This role plays a vital part in expanding the company’s customer base, building long-term partnerships, and supporting key sales initiatives across retail, bakery, and foodservice channels. The ideal candidate is motivated, resourceful, and has a strong understanding of the bakery industry, along with a passion for premium food products and relationship-driven sales.

Key Responsibilities

Business Growth & Prospecting

·       Research and identify new business opportunities in the bakery, ingredient, and foodservice markets.

·       Build and maintain a strong pipeline of qualified leads through networking, outreach, and industry research.

·       Support the development and execution of strategic sales initiatives to expand market reach.

·       Assist in the onboarding and coordination of new customer accounts.

·       Customer & Partner Engagement:

·       Participate in customer meetings, trade shows, and industry events to promote National Cortina’s brands and capabilities.

·       Prepare and deliver presentations, proposals, and pricing summaries under the guidance of senior sales leaders.

·       Work collaboratively with key customers to identify needs and tailor product solutions.

·       Foster positive relationships with distributors, brokers, and manufacturing partners to strengthen business opportunities.

Cross-Functional Collaboration

·       Partner with Marketing to develop materials that support new business outreach and category positioning.

·       Work with Operations and Supply Chain teams to ensure alignment on product availability, timelines, and fulfillment requirements.

·       Provide customer and market insights to inform product development and promotional initiatives.

Performance Tracking & Reporting

·       Maintain accurate CRM documentation of all leads, opportunities, and follow-ups.

·       Track progress toward sales and pipeline goals, identifying potential gaps or areas for improvement.

·       Support monthly reporting on business development metrics and achievements.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Marketing, or related field.

  • 3–5 years of experience in business development, account coordination, or sales within the bakery, ingredient, or CPG food industry.

  • Familiarity with the U.S. bakery market, customer networks, and distribution channels.

  • Strong interpersonal, communication, and presentation skills.

  • Proactive, organized, and results-driven, with the ability to manage multiple priorities.

  • Comfortable working both independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced, entrepreneurial environment.

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office and CRM systems (Salesforce, HubSpot, or equivalent).
